#EUelections2019 - European Border and Coast Guard

I went in blind, and the reveals were gripping. but in this film, I loved it. Ali Abbasi's film opens with a lightly sketched portrait of what makes Tina (Eva Melander) normal. Tina works in border control in a remote part of Sweden, near both water and woods. She doesn't look like anyone else. Her facial features have a catlike element, her teeth are whetted, her brown hair is bedraggled.

He gives a lot too. But then what he gives can be too much for sensitive ones. It's just not everyone's cup of tea. Poignancy will have a new definition at the end of it as innocence gets peeled blatantly on screen.

The fantasy aspect is impacted the modern setting and contemporary preoccupation. The theme that becomes clear is morality, and Border explores this in an engaging fashion. Border is at its most enchanting during Tina’s interactions with wild animals, Nordic forests and lakes. Yet Abbasi steers away from fairy-tale stylings by applying the same realism to both crime drama and folklore; the forest takes on a haptic quality with his focus on moss, soft dirt, and grubby fists – a masterful backdrop for the film’s more visceral reveals. 2019-03-27 · Co-written by John Ajvide Lindqvist, author of Swedish vampire movie Let the Right One In, Border is the winner of the top prize in the Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard section. The film contains elements of Nordic folklore, supernatural horror, social realism, noir and romance.
